Leading assessment, moderation and tracking in primary science – Day Two

This course is ideal for teachers who want to gain a greater understanding of the current expectations around assessment and children’s progress in science.
It can be taken as a two-day course, or day 1 as a standalone day.
Day 1: Where are we now? A national update on the current picture of assessment. A look at in-school formative assessment and what this looks like in terms of science. A consideration of how TAPS can support a formative assessment approach culminating in summative judgements being made.
Day 2: an in-depth focus on in-school summative assessment and how the PLAN materials can support making summative judgements. How the teacher assessment frameworks needs to be a whole school issue and how to moderate work to ensure the reliability of judgments. A look at nationally standardised summative assessments and how these can be used formatively in the classroom.
