Fiveways School Outreach Service
National Award winning outreach and inclusion
As a forward thinking special school, we are keen to promote inclusive opportunities for all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within our local area. To this end, we offer a well-established outreach support service, sharing our expertise through specialist training and practitioner led support.
By working in close partnership with local mainstream schools, we aim to increase their confidence, skills and knowledge of strategies and resources to enable them to effectively support and fully include pupils with SEND within their own settings
Designed to complement and add value to local support services, our offer includes:
- targeted support to meet professional development needs;
- focussed learning visits to Fiveways School;
- working on bespoke support programmes with pupils and their staff in their own schools.
Our inclusion programme and outreach service also has a long and proud history of enabling pupils with SEND to access provision in both mainstream and special schools as well as participating in activities within the local community.
Friday 19th October 2018 saw Fiveways School winning a major national award at this year’s nasen awards. Held annually, the ceremony recognises and celebrates the excellent work of individuals, schools and organisations for supporting children and young people with SEND to reach their full potential. Hosted by celebrity guest Vanessa Feltz, the evening was held at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London, with a formal dinner for almost 200 guests before the 12 category winners were announced and awards presented.
Fiveways School, shortlisted with three other schools from across the UK, were immensely proud to be judged as winners of the ‘Excellent Practice in Special School’ category. This prestigious accolade is for schools ‘making a real difference to, and improving outcomes for, children and young people with SEND’ and was awarded to Fiveways School in recognition of their outstanding outreach work and inclusion programme.
